Why do we sell the brands we sell?

Central HVAC: It is simple, we believe in selling you the best Value unit for your money. Long gone are the days of HVAC units lasting you 30 years. Corporate greed and government restrictions have caused quality to go down and prices to increase. There is no brand that will last as long as a unit would in the late 80s and early to mid 90s. We want to offer you a unit that has a solid 10-year parts warranty on major components, comprised of parts that do not cost a fortune to replace, parts that we can get locally the same day, and with as low of an up-front cost as possible. We sell primarily sell Goodman HVAC systems for those reasons. There are other good choices, such as Carrier, that we can and will be happy sell you if you want the "Big Name Brands" - but the quality of the components in a Goodman is the same, the parts are cheaper and more readily available, the up-front cost is lower, and it carries the exact same warranty. Goodman is the same company as Daikin (the Ductless units and commercial units that we most often sell) and Daikin is the largest HVAC manufacturer in the world. Moreover, there is one more huge reason that we choose Goodman/Daikin. There are basically 2 new freons that all HVAC systems run on today. These freons are R32 and R454b. Daikin INVENTED R32 and has been using it oversees for years (its only new to us). R454b is Carrier's blend of the last freon (R410a) and the new R32. Most brands other than Carrier and Carrier subsidiary brands use R32. What all this means is that on top of all of the previous reasons we choose Goodman/Daikin, we choose them because they know more about and have more experience using the new government mandated freon. Carrier also has to Buy R32 from Daikin to create their blended freon, which gives Daikin an edge on price. R32 freon also performs much better in our hot and humid climates than R454b. We have very few issues with Goodman issues and the service calls that we do get are often from external factors such as rodents, lightning, etc. These systems tend to last around 15 years in our experience with responsible maintenance and use and are warrantied both for Renal and Private use for 10 years (which is the best warranty in the business).

Ductless Mini Split Systems: We proudly sell Daikin. We have found that Daikin mini splits give us less problems compared to other brands. They work great, are easy to use, are highly efficient, and customers love that they can reach temperatures far below standard systems for maximum comfort in a desired area. These units are great for single rooms (enclosed garages, master bedrooms, pool houses, workshops, etc.).

Ice Machines: We suggest Hoshizaki. They are simply the best machines as far as build quality and durability. They are more time consuming to clean and service and they are slightly more expensive than other brands, but the tradeoff is well worth it if you need an ice machine you can depend on.

Should I buy a more efficient HVAC system or a more basic HVAC system?

This one is easy. 99% of the time, you want a more basic system. Here is why:

1. The most basic system today is MUCH more efficient than the system that we are likely replacing anyway. The government is constantly setting the minimum energy efficiency rating higher, so what looks like is a "less energy efficient" system now, is still incredibly efficient.

2. The components that it takes to make a system highly energy efficient are the parts that both COST more to replace and FAIL more often. For instance, a condenser fan motor can be a basic motor that will very likely last the life of the unit, or it can be a high efficiency ECM motor that will save you a small amount of money per month, but when it dies in 4 or 5 years, it will cost up to 4x what a regular motor would cost to replace. The boards, controllers, and motors needed to make a system more energy efficient will cost you more money during the life of the system than it will save you on your power bill. HVAC companies and manufactures charge more money (and profit more money) from selling you higher priced equipment such as this.

3. This is the exception to the rule. A more efficient system IS more efficient. If you understand that this system will not save you money, but it will have better performance, than you may consider one. There are normally multiple levels of efficiency when purchasing an HVAC system. Normally, we recommend the base model or the next step up from a base model as the best value between comfort and cost. However, if you want the best dehumidification and the highest performance you can get out of your HVAC system, we can provide it. I encourage you to talk to us before making that decision.
